How to check your UnlockTool download is genuine

A 30-second MD5 check that catches tampered, repacked and half-downloaded setups before they cost you a device.

UnlockTool guide: How to check your UnlockTool download is genuine

Every official UnlockTool build is published with an MD5 hash. Think of it as a fingerprint of the exact file: change even one byte and the fingerprint changes. Comparing the two takes seconds, and it's the easiest way to know you aren't running a repacked build.

The quick way: check it in your browser

  1. Download the setup from the official download page.
  2. Scroll to Verify your download on the same page and drop the file onto the box.
  3. The page hashes the file on your own computer (nothing gets uploaded) and tells you whether it matches the latest release.

The Windows way: CertUtil

Open Command Prompt in the folder that holds the setup and run certutil -hashfile UnlockTool.exe MD5 (use the real file name). Compare the result with the hash on the release notes.

What a mismatch means

  • An older version. Each release has its own hash. Check which version you actually downloaded.
  • An incomplete download. Large files sometimes cut off. Download again.
  • A modified file. Delete it. Repacked builds cannot log in, often carry password stealers, and can fail half-way through a flash.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find it? Talk to support and a real person will reply. Support hours: Every day, 10:00–02:00 (GMT+5).

Is the browser check safe?
Yes. The file is read locally by your browser to calculate the hash. It never leaves your computer.
Why would the hash change between versions?
Every build is a different file, so each one has a different fingerprint. Always compare against the version you downloaded.
