What FRP is, and who this is for
FRP (Factory Reset Protection) is Android's Google account lock. After a reset the phone asks for the Google account that was on it before. Repair shops run into it all the time: a customer forgot their account, bought a phone second-hand from a relative, or reset it themselves and got stuck.
UnlockTool is a tool for repair technicians and device owners. Only use it on phones you own or that you're authorised to repair, and never on lost or stolen devices. Read the acceptable use policy before you start. When in doubt, ask the customer for proof of purchase.

FRP support by chipset
How the phone connects depends on its chipset, so it helps to know which family yours belongs to:
- MediaTek: 1,445 models with Erase FRP, usually through BROM mode with the MTK VCOM driver.
- Qualcomm: 1,314 models, usually through EDL (9008) mode with the Qualcomm driver.
- Unisoc / Spreadtrum: 407 models, through the SPD download mode.
- Samsung Exynos: 1-click FRP in Odin Download Mode, added in v2026.10.14.0 on 14 October 2026.
Some models also support FRP removal through ADB, which needs USB debugging on. The exact mode for your phone shows in UnlockTool when you pick the model.
Samsung FRP in Download Mode
Samsung has the longest list: 443 of 515 listed Samsung models support Erase FRP. According to the official release notes for v2026.10.14.0, Samsung Exynos phones now get automatic 1-click FRP removal directly in Odin Download Mode, without enabling ADB first, on Android 14 to 17 (One UI up to 9.0).
Supported Exynos chipsets in that release: Exynos 850, 880, 980, 990, 1080, 1280, 1330, 1380, 1480, 1580, 1680, 2100, 2200, 2400, 2500, 2600, W920, W930, W1000.
Compatibility can still vary with the model, chipset, firmware and security patch. The full notes are in the UnlockTool update log.
What you need
- An active UnlockTool license on your UnlockTool account (prices start at $20).
- A Windows PC with the latest UnlockTool from the download page.
- The right USB driver for the chipset: MTK VCOM, Qualcomm 9008, SPD or Samsung. All are on the UnlockTool drivers page.
- A good data cable, a rear USB port and a charged phone.
How it works, step by step
- Check your exact model code is in the supported list and shows Erase FRP.
- Open UnlockTool, log in, and pick the brand and model (or the chipset tab for your phone).
- Put the phone in the mode UnlockTool asks for (BROM, EDL, download or ADB) and connect it by USB.
- Click Erase FRP and wait for the log to finish before you unplug the phone.
- Restart the phone and set it up with the owner's own Google account.
If FRP removal fails
Most failures are connection problems: the phone isn't in the right mode, the driver is missing, or the loader doesn't match. Look up the message on UnlockTool errors, for example waiting for COM ports or handshake failed. Still stuck? Send a screenshot of the log and the model to support on WhatsApp.
